What is Yoga Therapy?
Yoga therapy is a type of therapy that uses yoga postures, breathing exercises, meditation, and guided imagery to improve mental and physical health. The holistic focus of yoga therapy encourages the integration of mind, body, and spirit. Modern yoga therapy covers a broad range of therapeutic modalities, incorporating elements from both physical therapy and psychotherapy. Yoga therapy is a growing field and scientific evidence has begun to emphasize its efficacy. It is used to treat existing mental and physical health issues, but can also be used as a self-care strategy for prevention and maintenance.
What to expect…
Hillary specializes in stress, anxiety, and overall self-care using yoga tools to help you develop new skills to overcome these aspects of your life and bring you into balance within your mind, body, & spirit. The first session we will work together to come up with a plan for your next 5-10 sessions. During this session we will talk about what you would like to work on based on your mind, body, or spirit this can include learning more about yoga philosophy, different types of yoga breath work, and personalizing a home practice unique to you. Most sessions run from an hour and fifteen minutes, and are by appointment only. During your sessions we will spend 10-15min. discussing your homework from the week before. The next 45min are used to work on asanas related to your needs, teaching you new skills based in yoga philosophy, and new breath work techniques if applicable. If this sounds like a perfect fit for you do not hesitate to reach out via email, messenger, or phone to book your first session.
A little about Hillary...
Hillary grew up in a household focused on the mind, body connection. Throughout her life she was a spiritual minded, and health centered person. It was not until getting her masters in social work that she decided to pursue a yoga practice to lessen the stress it was putting on her. Hillary began to practice threes times a week at a local yoga studio and immediately fell in love with its therapeutic benefits. After graduating with her Master in Social Work she decided to get her 200hr training done. This began to open her up to the idea how she could use social work & yoga together. She began to search the internet looking for ways, in which to make this possible. She found Yoga Therapy, and has been working in the field for 3 years now. Yoga Therapy brings so much joy to her because she enjoys planting seeds in her students and watching them empower themselves to heal. Hillary is now RYT 500 hours yoga certified, and has lots of knowledge to give based in her extra hours of training. Her main focus is on self empowerment, stress, and anxiety.
